Coolest Dad in the World – Bella’s Arcade

Well, second coolest dad according the author in this article. James, the man who built the pink arcade machine from scratch, did it just for his 4-year-old daughter named Bella. The entire 2 year building process is chronicled at Bella’s Arcade, which also includes detailed pictures and links to several arcade building resources.

At only 50″ tall, the Bella Arcade Machine features a growing list of games, a real coin operator, customized marquee and software interface, and, of course, enough pink to make any girl squeal with delight. In fact, according to James, that’s exactly what happened. Bella still needs a small step-stool to reach the controls and see the screen, but any adult can use it while sitting in a chair.

You can find James giving a video demonstration of Bella’s Arcade here.

Goldeneye Source

Many moons ago (December 2005 to be exact) we told you all about the first beta release of Goldeneye Source, a remake of Goldeneye 64 for PC using the Half-Life 2 engine. Well believe it or not beta 3 just got released. Yeah, so the Half-Life 2 engine is far from cutting edge now, but it’s still way better than the original N64 version, and includes online play. Check out the video below to see for yourself. And when you’re ready to get owned by the Xgaming crew, hit the link below to download the mod (requires Half-Life 2).

As if there weren’t already enough great uses for your Play-Doh fun factory, you can make 8-bit cookies as well. Check out this Flickr page for full step-by-step image instructions for making your own.

As for me however, that looks like kitchen work, so I’ll stick to spray-painting my Rice Krispie® treats.
