It’s been a quarter century since Nintendo of America® shipped out the first Donkey Kong™ cabinets, and 1UP has put up an excellent retrospective of the launch, history, and success of the Pauline-swiping, barrel-chucking primate.
“Twenty-five years ago this August, the first-ever copy of the game that would become Nintendo ’s® breakout hit product was installed in a Seattle tavern. A quarter century ago, the first quarter dropped into the first bright blue cabinet and the first player watched a massive ape clamber up a construction site, kidnapped damsel in hand, stomping the girders into disrepair.“- I’m not sure if the feeling I got from that was of pure nostalgia, or simply feeling old.
