Retro Art

As a tribute to video game classics, John Gibson rounded up over 100 of the top artists in the world and tasked them with putting Frogger, Dig Dug and the rest of our ’80s favorites onto canvas. The result is the “i am 8-bit” exhibit.

“I was just sick and tired of people saying ‘games aren’t art,’” said John. “So why not fuse the two mediums?”

The results are fascinating visions of our video game culture, such as ” Excitebike ” by Sean Clarity, “Samus” by Katie Rice, or ” @!#?@ !” by Joe Ledbetter.

“It’s the most successful show the gallery has had since it opened,” said John.
